Diagon Alley
The excursion to Diagon Alley took place on August 27th. Transport had been arranged via portkey, with groups of seven assigned a portkey every ten minutes from 9AM. They would be greeted by a second Ministry Rep, and given the instruction to wait until all Outsiders had arrived.
As they arrived at the Leaky Cauldron, each Outsider was provided a complementary drink and an item from the breakfast menu, as the two Ministry Reps handed out envelopes to each Outsider. Contained in the envelope, they would find a letter from Hogwarts School, a list of required books and supplies, and a simple map of Diagon Alley highlighting the shops to visit.
"As you're aware," one of the Ministry reps said, addressing them all, "the Assistance Fund is unlikely to cover everything listed were you to buy them brand new, and as such we would strongly advise seeking out second-hand items where you can. For those studying adult courses, Flourish and Blotts is the exclusive provider of the course materials - these are produced at a low cost, specifically to allow the grant to cover them.
"Please keep your letter with you. On visiting the wandmaker, Ollivander, you will need it as proof of identity, otherwise you will be required to pay full price for your wand."
"Once you've all had your breakfast, we'll be moving on to Gringotts, the Wizarding Bank, where you can collect a portion of your grant. From there, you may explore Diagon Alley as you see fit. Please ensure you have all items listed before we leave, as well as any additional items such as stationary and bags."
"Lunch will be served here, at the Leaky Cauldron, at twelve thirty. We will be leaving for the Hogsmeade camp from here at four thirty."

I'm Tavros, hi. Uh, Tavros Nitram.
[He tipped it up to show his face. Grey skin, jagged teeth, and thick eyebrows over orange eyes were visible for just a moment before he lowered it again, shielding himself from the eyes of passersby. Hopefully his attempt at a friendly smile wasn't too horrifying.]
I'm a troll.
[He still doesn't know that this world has its own version of trolls. It'll be quite a surprise when he finds out.]

[Yep she's totally accepting of that fact with a wide smile.] Did you come to look at the animals?
no subject
Yeah! The creatures here are all really exciting, aren't they? Here, look:
[Behind the glass, there's a purple magical flame blazing in the window display. Red-burning salamanders are crawling in and out of it, playing among themselves, watching the two figures on the other side of the glass.]
Have you ever seen anything like this? Because I haven't, not ever!
no subject
[She grinned at him, before returning her attention towards the salamanders.] I kind of want one.

[From her unique vantage point in her chair, she's the only person on the street who can see him grin back.]
Want to go in?
no subject
[You know, because of her chair. But she moves it, pushing herself towards the door.]
no subject
We'll make it work, somehow.
[Even if they can't fit up and down the aisles, at least they'll be able to see some things!]
no subject
[And she moved to nudge the door open.]
no subject
[He held it open for her to manoeuvre the chair through, then followed her in.]

I wonder how much pets cost, I'd really like to get something. And the paper said we could have a frog or an owl, right? Or a cat, I guess, but I can't have one of those.

[He watched her play with the young cat longingly. It wasn't fair.]

Yeah! I haven't gone to the book store yet, but there's a potions one, isn't there? I bet magic can fix it! They fixed my legs from not working, so it should be easy!

[He peers down curiously.]
I was wondering, but then I remembered when I was in a four wheel device like you, and I didn't like thinking about how it happened, or even that I was in it, on account of feeling really bad about myself sometimes. So maybe I thought it would be better if I didn't make you think of it.
But it looks like I did anyway, though... sorry.

It's fine though. I'm used to it. [The lie was practiced, and slipped through easily. No need to tell anyone about the book.]
no subject
I'm sure you can find someone to help make your legs stronger, definitely. Maybe you can even do it yourself when you get to the school, wouldn't that be cool?
[His attention was divided between her and a cage full of tiny frogs whose colour changed every time they hopped.]
