Diagon Alley
The excursion to Diagon Alley took place on August 27th. Transport had been arranged via portkey, with groups of seven assigned a portkey every ten minutes from 9AM. They would be greeted by a second Ministry Rep, and given the instruction to wait until all Outsiders had arrived.
As they arrived at the Leaky Cauldron, each Outsider was provided a complementary drink and an item from the breakfast menu, as the two Ministry Reps handed out envelopes to each Outsider. Contained in the envelope, they would find a letter from Hogwarts School, a list of required books and supplies, and a simple map of Diagon Alley highlighting the shops to visit.
"As you're aware," one of the Ministry reps said, addressing them all, "the Assistance Fund is unlikely to cover everything listed were you to buy them brand new, and as such we would strongly advise seeking out second-hand items where you can. For those studying adult courses, Flourish and Blotts is the exclusive provider of the course materials - these are produced at a low cost, specifically to allow the grant to cover them.
"Please keep your letter with you. On visiting the wandmaker, Ollivander, you will need it as proof of identity, otherwise you will be required to pay full price for your wand."
"Once you've all had your breakfast, we'll be moving on to Gringotts, the Wizarding Bank, where you can collect a portion of your grant. From there, you may explore Diagon Alley as you see fit. Please ensure you have all items listed before we leave, as well as any additional items such as stationary and bags."
"Lunch will be served here, at the Leaky Cauldron, at twelve thirty. We will be leaving for the Hogsmeade camp from here at four thirty."

Although he explores as much of Diagon Alley as he can, he spends most of his time gazing longingly at the wares of Magical Menagerie, Eeylops Owl Emporium, and Quality Quidditch Supplies. He's devastated to discover that even 2nd Hand Brooms doesn't have anything in his price range.
It's probably a good thing that no one can see his face, since he's sulking pretty heavily. Of course, the robe does nothing to conceal his body language.]

Wow. These... really cost a lot of money.
*Not that she would've been allowed to have one anyway, but flying! Nanoha blinked, looking over at the boy next to her, who was really sulky looking.*
I wonder how much work has to go into these for them to cost this much...

I thought things would be really cheap and easy with magic!
I really wanted to fly...
no subject
But how do you know that a broom's the only way to fly here?

[He thinks for a moment, then his voice is somewhat brighter, even though he feels foolish for getting discouraged so easily.]
I guess I just assumed, since I didn't see any other things being sold. Do you think there are other ways?

Do you know what it's like, human school?
[This is something that's been weighing on his mind a lot. There's so much that's different about Earth, it's absolutely mindboggling for him sometimes..]
no subject
Just... not about the school they want us to go to. Even back on my version of Earth, there weren't really magic schools. And I didn't live in the UK, so I don't know how different it's going to be.

Is it true that adults do all the teaching and things?
no subject
Yeah, it is. I mean, I guess there are special cases where a kid is mature enough and capable enough to do a job like that, but most of the time it's adults.
*Though Nanoha's one of those cases were a kid is able to do jobs that most adults need to do.*
no subject
[And kind of scary. A lot of the people at the camp are fairly young, and he's been avoiding the older-looking ones, mostly. They're so big, he's sure they could kill him in an instant if they wanted to.]
Human kids are all so brave about grown-ups.

*Because that really didn't make much sense to her. At all.*

*You're talking to someone a lot stronger than most adults here, after all. Also most adults she meant (not including Precia Testarossa) were sane.*
no subject
I guess because they could hurt you if they wanted, and you couldn't stop them, since they're better at everything.

[He blinks, surprised.]
But what if they do?
no subject
I guess it would depend on the adult, or if there were any others near you at the time.
*She gulps a bit. Reminders about Precia Testarosa were never easy, and Nanoha was glad that Fate-chan wasn't here right now.*
no subject
[What a relief! He might start lowering his guard around adults a bit more.]

[You do have lusi, don't you??]

*What were they supposed to be?*
